PSIG News: September 2004 e-News September Meeting The September PSIG meeting will be held on Thursday the 23rd, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at Voorhees High School in room 245. As this is the first meeting since the summer break, we will use a portion of the meeting to discuss the future of the SIG, including leadership issues, meeting content, and overall direction of the group. All SIG members are highly encouraged to attend and we will be looking for your input, thoughts, and suggestions. Bring it to the Table Nothing beats a real-world example or solution. For the September meeting, each member is asked to bring an image on CD, Zip, digital camera media card, or as a print for discussion and/or troubleshooting. (A low-res version can also be sent to Matt prior to the meeting.) The image should deal with a Photoshop-related question or to demonstrate a solution to a prior problem. Participation is not mandatory, but encouraged. Photoshop Elements 3.0 Adobe has released Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0. Although targeted as consumer photo-editing software, this appears to be great tool for the beginner and casual user to transform your digital photos like a pro. While still no CMYK support, it adds more of Photoshops features and even touts greater integration with iPhoto. Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0. Tips and Tricks Layer Hiding Everyone knows that to hide an individual layer, one simply clicks on the eye icon in the first column next to that layer in the Layers palette. And to make the layer visible again, click on the spot where the eye icon used to be. However, here is a shortcut for keeping one layer visible and hiding all the others; hold the option key and click on the eye icon beside the layer you want to keep visible again. Click again to bring the other layers back. Commit this shortcut to memory and your clicking-muscles will thank you! Zoom In on All Images If you have tiled your open Photoshop documents (window > arrange > tile) with Photoshop CS you get some added functionality. If you want all the images displayed at the same level of magnification, just hold the shift key, grab the zoom tool, and zoom in on one of the imagesall the other tiled images will jump to that same magnification. This is perfect when you are trying to compare a number of similar images for detail.
