PSIG News: May 2002 e-News May Meeting May's Photoshop SIG meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 9th, from 7:00 to 8:45 p.m. in the graphics room of North Hunterdon High School. The program will focus on a review of the mock magazine cover project assigned at the April meeting. Project information, instructions, and downloads are available on the Photoshop SIG website. Members are reminded to bring in their working files (both layered and flattened) on a Zip disk for review and discussion at the meeting. Even if the project is not complete, please bring in your progress to date. Photoshop 7 Movies Also at the May meeting, there will be a look at a few Total Training videos dealing with the new File Browser, Healing Brush, and Auto Color features in Photoshop 7. Bring a Problem... on a Zip! Members are always encouraged to bring Photoshop files to the meeting on a Zip with specific questions for problem-solving discussion and group feedback. We will take a look at a few member's files during the question and answer session and hopefully provide support, solutions, and answers. Photoshop 7 on the Newsstand With the release of Photoshop 7, there are a number of publications hitting newsstands to help us get the most of this upgrade. Macworld and MacAddict have featured Photoshop 7 previews in older issues, with surely more to come. Mac Design Magazine is offering a special 100 Hot Photoshop Tips Book published by The National Association of Photoshop Professionals book, which is free with your paid subscription or renewal. More details can be found at Mac Design Online. Tips and Tricks: Optimize to File Size In the Save for Web Dialog, click on the right-facing arrow that is to the right of the Settings pop-up menu. Click and hold it. When the menu appears, select Optimize to File Size, then just enter the file size you want your document to be. Tips and Tricks: Lighten A Dark Image To lighten a dark image, keeping the detail, make copies of the layer, and in the layer copies, change the blend mode to Screen. Make multiple copies of the layer with the blend mode change until the desired effect.
