April Meeting: Main Program

April's Photoshop SIG meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 11th, from 7:00 to 8:45 p.m. in the graphics room of North Hunterdon High School/Polytech School. There will be instructional movies on Photoshop actions, a tutorial on using displacement maps, and we will look at the "File > File Info" options. In addition, a new project will be introduced at the April meeting which will hopefully foster more member participation in the coming months.

Bring a Problem... on a Zip!

Members are encouraged to bring Photoshop files to the meeting on a Zip with specific questions for problem-solving discussion and group feedback. We will take a look at a few member's files during the question and answer session and hopefully provide support, solutions, and answers.

PSIG Tutorials Available Online

On the Photoshop SIG website, there are PDFs of the tutorials presented at the monthly meetings, along with the actual Photoshop documents used in the tutorials available for download. Visit the page in the tutorials section of the site.

Tips and Tricks: Sharpening Tricks

No Halos: When applying the Unsharp Mask, you may notice "halos" around parts of the image. To get around this, change the color mode to Lab, select the Lightness channel, then apply the filter.

More Sharpening: Another way to sharpen your image is to first, make a copy of your background layer, then go under Filter > Other > High Pass. Enter a setting of 1.5 pixels. Now change the blend mode of the new layer to Soft Light.

Tips and Tricks: More Powerful Layer Styles

If you have multiple Layer Styles applied, and don't want to go through and adjust each one, buried in the Layer menu, under Layer Styles, is the Scale Effects command. Increase or decrease your effects all at once with that dialog box.
