PSIG News: March 2002 e-News March Meeting: Main Program The March meeting of the Photoshop SIG will be on Thursday, March 14 at the North Hunterdon High School/Polytech School. The meeting will run from 7p.m. until 8:45p.m. SIG member Debbie Lynch will be presenting a Photoshop-related application called Test Strip, a popular, and award-winning Plug-in for color correction. We will also talk about some of the features of the recently announced Photoshop 7. In addition to the main program, there will be a question-and-answer session, some tutorial movies, and a tutorial lesson. Please Note the Room Change The March meeting will be held in the graphics room of the high school instead of the regular meeting room 125. Members who have been with the group will remember meeting in this room before. It is in the same section of the school, just further down the hall and to the left. There will be signs marking the way. Wether this is a permanent change for the group has yet to be determined. Photoshop 7 Announced Adobe announced Photoshop 7 on Monday, February 24. Although not yet shipping, information on the new features, system requirements (Mac OS 9.1, 9.2, or Mac OS X version 10.1.3) and ordering information can be found on Adobe's website. Free Custom Plug-in Reindeer Graphics has written a very much enhanced version of Photoshop's "custom" filter, which, like the Photoshop one has an interactive preview, and is recordable in Actions. Reindeer Graphics is offering this plug-in for free download and use. It is one of nearly 200 plug-ins in the widely used Fovea Pro package, but can be used without installing or owning that package. The plug-in, along with instructions and some example filter files, can be downloaded as a .sit file for Macintosh or a .zip file for Windows. While you are there, please take a look at the full range of Fovea Pro capabilities and other free downloads that are available. http://www.reindeergraphics.com/free.html#custom Tips and Tricks: Snap Problem When you are trying to crop something and it snaps to the edge of the document, there can't be anything more annoying. To get rid of this snap feature, go under View>Snap To and select Document Bounds. Tips and Tricks: Highlight Color If you have highlighted your text to change its color, you often cannot actually see the color you are applying, because the text is highlighted. To see the color you want to apply on the text, press Command-H to hide the highlighting. Now you can see the colors as you choose them for your text.
