PSIG News: January Meeting Recap
January 10, 2002

January Meeting

The January meeting of the Photoshop SIG was held on Thursday, January 10 at the North Hunterdon High School/Polytech School.

The meeting began with a healthy question-and-answer session that lasted well into the meeting. The results of the 2001 member survey were discussed.

Matt LaRusso talked a little about Macworld San Francisco. He gave a brief introduction to iPhoto, Apple's new digital photography cataloging tool.

Tutorial movies were shown on color-correcting sections of a photo using the Hue and Saturation tool, retouching a photograph using the cloning stamp tool, and a movie on one method to remove red eye from a photograph.

Due to time, the hands-on tutorials had to be pushed back to February's meeting, which will be held on Thursday, February 14th.

The Great Desktop Printer Experiment

Looking to replace your desktop printer or curious about output quality? Join the "great desktop printer experiment!" Discussion of color and output at our January meeting led to a suggestion by David Davis for a SIG-wide test.

We will be providing an image on this site for PSIG members to (voluntarily) download and print from Photoshop as is, without any retouching or color-correction. Members will then bring in their prints, with information on how they were printed (printer model, paper stock, etc.) so we can compare them. The results should be pretty eye-opening.

Watch for more details in the next few weeks.
